Pink pumps

IMG_5523_2

Hi guys, how's it going?

Getting dresses for the upcoming holiday parties is proving to be such a task. I'm helping some friends find dresses for their upcoming holiday company parties and other events. They want to go all out for these red carpet themed events but with little time left, they may have to settle for the less glitzy dresses. Finding beautiful special occasion dresses, like those by Jovani, is pretty easy but actually getting them is the hard part. It appears receiving a dress on time would require you to order at least one month in advance. Unless, of course, you find a good company whose actually willing to exhaust all options to get the dress to you on time. I think i've finally found that company (though I won't say their name until i've actually received the product) after many (and I mean many) failed attempts. If these dresses arrive on time as promised I will be the happiest lady in the world. Doesn't matter if they're not for me. I'm fully invested! Those of you with good luck I really need you to please send some my way. (fingers crossed)

About the outfit: I actually wore this a few days ago before our little cold front that we're experiencing now. Boooo!!! Anyway, I've had this top for a while which I scored in the Zara end of Spring sale for less than $20. It's a great multi-tasker! It's actually long sleeved and can be worn for work or for less dressy occasions which is how I wore it. Paired it with my FAVE high waisted shorts (which you've seen before here) and my pink Zara pumps which I scored in the end of spring sale of last year. KUDOS to Zara for the awesome end of spring sales. Would have been great paired with long jeans or a long leather pants also. The necklace however was my favorite item worn that day. Picked this up in Macy's a few weeks ago and I love love love it. I think F21 sold something similar but i'm not sure. If this cooler weather stays, I think this is the last i'll be wearing shorts (without tights).

Turkey day! =)

IMG_5545

Happy late Thanksgiving to those of you that celebrate. Growing up British, Thanksgiving is not one of the holidays we observe. I, however, CANNOT live without turkey (exaggerated a bit but you get my point) so I went to my cousins house to enjoy the wonderful feast her mom, whose visiting from the islands, and her prepared. It was amazing! I ate and ate but sadly after waking up the next day I wanted to eat some more but couldn't because I hadn't taken any home with me. We left the party early to stake out the Black Friday deals which started early this year. I still can't believe the malls and outlets were open at 12. I felt so sorry for the mall workers but I guess the hustle in them had them on their feet and ready to go. I didn't have any plans to shop but I did score some cute Steve Madden heels from Macy's which i'm wearing around the house right now as I type (I know I can't be the only one who does this). =) Anyway, I have got to share with you guys the madness I experienced.

For the first time ever, I went to Walmart when the sales started at 10pm. Let's just say, I've learned my lesson. NEVER EVER EVER EVER in my life will I again go to Walmart during Black Friday sales. I've never experienced anything like that before. It literally felt like I was in the middle of a huge riot. There were so many fights, people yelling and screaming and pulling items from each other's hands. The poor workers were so fearful. There was this one little guy who was almost to tears when he finally opened the game case and customers started to rush him. Hugely because there were like 7 games each and over 300 people fighting for them. Good thing I talked him up earlier in the evening and I was able to get my games first. If I had to fight for it, I would soooo lose. I'm a lover not a fighter. =) But really? Can a sale be that good that people will fight over it? I didn't look at the ad prior to going there so i'm not sure how good the sales were. The person I was with wanted to pick up some games so I tagged along thinking it wouldn't be half bad if we got there early and stood by the game section. Oh boy was I wrong.

WOW! I'm still in shock. The ladies who stormed the Macy's shoe department for the $20 boots were 100 percent more civil than the customers at Walmart. They were still bad but a lot more civil. Despite all the madness, it really is a fun experience (minus Walmart) driving around to the different places and observing the Black Friday shopping while doing a little as well. I live in a commercial area which is surrounded by 3 malls including an outlet plus lots of shopping centers. I saw it all! Best Buy by far was the most ridiculous. Their line literally wrapped around the building and I think it was because of the 42 inch TV for $199. I couldn't believe there was such a long line outside Old Navy. It made me a lot curious as to what deals each store was offering. Next time i'll be a lot more prepared.

Next, I decided to stop by Target because I have my eye on a cake pop maker and I wanted to see what deals they had. During that stop I was able to witness the #OCCUPYORLANDO group storm the Target chanting something about "we are the 99 percent," I couldn't really hear them. Being a vivid news reader, I was really curious to hear what they had to say but I was too far away to make it out. If you don't know what the whole OCCUPY hash tag stands for, you really have not been paying attention to what's happening in the world around you. As a journalist I have to tell you, that's bad bad.

Anyway, overall, it was fun. Next time I will take my flip cam and film the entire thing because you definitely see a lot of funny characters...LOL. I especially loved the little Grannies dressed in their jogging suits walking 2mph down the aisles while their daughters and grand kids pulled on them to move faster. I guess traditions are hard to break. Did you guys go out for some Black Friday shopping?

This is what I wore to the Thanksgiving dinner. I don't know what it was but I was really in the mood to wear these sequin shorts that have been sitting in my closet for some time now. My cousin and her mom told me I looked like the peanut man in my hat. I googled him and I sure did look like the peanut man with his black, white and yellow. Here I was thinking I was paying homage to the pilgrims....HAHA.

P-squared

IMG_5453

Hey dolls, what's up?

I've been contemplating (just a little) on ways to incorporate fall pieces into my daily routine. My problem is, I don't see the point in dressing for a season that it doesn't feel like. By the time I get out the cool air from the night before is gone and by the time I get in, it's still warm outside. I much rather dress to match the weather and not the season. I love fall fashion (though not as much as summer) but i'm afraid we just may miss fall here in FL. Or just me with my hours! I'm not complaining though, i'm sooo OK with that. #islandgirlforever

About the look: I got this top and vest from F21 over two years ago. I've worn these pieces ocassionally, never together, and haven't grown tired of them as yet. I paired them with my new pink pants I found while browsing the sale racks at Old Navy about a month ago. The price was right! I did buy them with a specific look in mind but sooo didn't end up wearing them that way. Next time! Of course I had to pair this trio with booties because it's fall right?? =) These are my sentimental booties. These babies took me through college. They've finally started to fade in color and the day I have to stop wearing them will be a sad day for me. I'm actually thinking of taking them to a professional to have them dyed. OR I may just make that a DIY project. That way, if they get ruined i'll have no one to blame but myself. As much as I love these, I must say my shoe style has somewhat evolved since I got them. I'm having more JC and Matiko dreams these days. It's always good when you purchase things that you love. You never get tired of them and you get your monies worth. Do you guys own any pieces like that? I find myself having a lot.

Humpity Hump Wednesday

IMG_5426

Hey bloggies what's up?

I originally started this blog post on Wednesday (hence the blog title) but got distracted. I could have changed it but you guys don't mind. Right? Anyway, about the look, I'm not a huge fan of jeans, I only own a few. Jeans to me are uncomfortable. They cling to my skin too harshly. I can't think of anything worse than wearing a pair of jeans on a hot day and it's still hot here in Florida. However, my hun loves me in jeans so I won't eliminate them from my wardrobe. If you know of a brand that sells comfortable jeans please let me know. These are from H&M and they're actually the most comfortable pair I own. The material is very soft and just what I needed. Plus they're super cute paired with boots. =) Hope you enjoy the pics!

RIP my beautiful tights

IMG_5380

Hey bloggies (old and new), What's up?

This weekend I headed out with my hun to watch the movies Immortal (2 thumbs up) and Tower Heist (1 thumb up just because of the unlikeliness of the plots). It was a bit chilly out so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to wear my new sweater from Zara. I've been a bit obsessed with striped tops (mostly black and white) so the purchase of this sweater was a no brainer. Plus it only cost about $20 =). I didn't want a polished look so I pulled on a pair of my old beach shorts (also from Zara). I'm so sad to say after I took these pics my tights were ruined. =( Somehow the velcro from my camera bag got stuck to them (Ooopss!) and when I pulled it off it took a chunk of the tights with it...HAHA!!! I kid now but when it happened I was furious. I think I may have abused the camera bag. *Must work on anger issues!* Only a Chipotle burrito could make it all better. =) Yumm!!! That and the fact that I jumped on the net as I got home to hunt for a new pair. I just can't live without my scalloped tights. Topshop no longer had them in stock so I found a similar pair on a different website....I think ASOS. I ordered 2 (just in case). Sorry for the bad quality pics. It turns dark earlier now so it was hard getting pics before sun down.

Broke 2 nails while traveling so I need to shave down the others for some coordination. But enough about that, my baked alaska design on the ring fingers are sooo cute but the camera didn't capture it! =( Wearing OPI calendar girl mixed with red.

I was actually wearing a black jacket which I stupidly took off before taking these.

I'm backkkkk

IMG_5205
Flying into San Juan

Hey dolls, how's it going?

It feels like it's been forever since i've been on here but i'm back and it feels GREAT. I would like to apologize for my absence in the past week. There was a last minute trip that came up and I jetted off to my home island in the British Virgin Islands for a little bit of business and pleasure. I expected to have internet access while there but unfortunately I didn't. =( That's not even the worse part; I was hardly able to take pics, go to the beach or sailing. Bummer!!!!! I'm always traveling back and forth between there and Florida but it would have been nice to actually get some great pics since this was my first time traveling since starting my blog. Oh well! Next time! I did have a blast though and I do have a few pics (really bad quality in my opinion) that I will share with you. Hope you like them.

Will do a proper outfit post on how I wore this because it was really cute with the over the knee socks and booties.

My view for the past couple of days. The song i'm coming home by dirty money comes to mind. Sigh! =(

I really needed that trip and i'm so happy I decided to go. Despite all that I didn't do, I feel rejuvenated. Anyone whose ever lived away from their home country should be able to understand where i'm coming from. Especially since 95 percent of my family lives there. Take care dolls, it's time for me to do some catching up in the blogosphere. =)

T’wana
