Sweats & Heels

IMG_3289_2_2

Hey dolls how's it going?

Today I had an amazingly chill Saturday with my boys (son & boo).  I love Saturday's, it's the best day of the week.  I get to sleep in & by sleeping in I mean sleep until 8:00am....LOL.  It's the best!  We decided to go to the movies so I wanted to be super comfortable.  Comfortable to me means sweats & a pair of comfortable heels.  These red ones from Zara are super comfortable for me.  I've heard people say they're uncomfortable but I guess they fit the shape of my feet well because I never have any problems with them.  We're just recovering from a little cold front so I was excited for the 80 degree weather today.  I just had to pull out a sheer top.  Hope you enjoy my look!

Neon & black

IMG_3219

Hey dolls, how've you been?

I suffered a bit of a brain freeze while choosing my title, forgive me.  My camera didn't photograph the true color of this top, it's a type of neon pink.  This is just a short post to share with you what I wore to the Macy's event from my previous post.  Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think.

Spice up your prom look - Macy's event hosted by Mr Kate

IMG_3129

Today I suffered a bit of nostalgia as I watched 4 beautiful young ladies strut the runway in prom wear for the young modern fashionista.  DIY & lifestyle expert blogger Mr Kate (yeah I know, I expected a guy to), shared many valuable tips to an audience of young girls on how to enhance their prom looks.  The event was held at Macy's Millennia and since Macy's is just a hop and a skip from my doorstep, I usually attend their events.  There was so much going on; complimentary nail services, DIY projects, complimentary hair styling, fashion show & gift cards for those who tweeted about the event.  There was also one lucky winner of a $100 Macy's gift card to spend with the assistance of Mr Kate.

I'm so happy I attended because it certainly brought back memories that I had somehow suppressed to the deepest darkest section of my memory...LOL.  Now I know why!  My prom dress was hideous now that I think about it.  What was I thinking?!  Here's the thing, my prom took place at a point in my life where I was just starting to become aware of the fact that i'm a young lady and I should start carrying myself as such...=).  I was such a fun loving tomboy who cared about literally NOTHING!  Those were the days...no bills...little to no responsibilities....just stress free living.  I mean I still try to keep my life this way but the older you get the more you don't have a choice I guess.  I had just started wearing heels and I was slowly coming into my own.  Problem is, my full transformation didn't happen by the time prom came around...HAHA.

Watching these beautiful young ladies strut their stuff in these colorful, asymmetric prom dresses was refreshing.  My prom was about a 100 years ago so I had a lot of trouble finding the pics to share with you.  I searched high and low but because I more or less moved across the globe since then, they must have been lost somewhere in the transition.  Bummer!  I really wanted to give you guys a good laugh.  In my defense, however, it really wasn't that bad.  My dress was just really boring plus I didn't realize the purpose of makeup back then. HA!  My dress looked a little something like this:

and trust me, this is a MUCH cuter version.  Mine was a light green color and I literally looked liked someone's grandma now that I think about it...but I still insist it wasn't that bad.  Oh how I wish I found those pictures.  Anyway, the ones I saw at the event were a lot better than what I wore.  For those of you about to embark on the wonderful experience that is prom, Mr Kate definitely had some cute and fun tips for you.  She's definitely an out of the box thinker and I love it.  Her and I can definitely hang and it'll be like we knew each other forever.  These tips are definitely guaranteed to help you create your own unique prom memory while just helping you get ready for that big day.

The girls were lining up for all the complimentary services.  I, on the other hand, was too distracted by the Mac makeup stand nearby.  Although i'm a bit of a naturalista, I'm trying to learn the art of makeup.  Wish me luck!

Which of these dresses would you wear to prom?  I was hoping to try on my dream dress (just for fun) but I didn't fall in love with any except that last one (white dress) but the model was wearing the last one left in my size.  That dress is a huge step up from what I wore 100 years ago and I love it paired with gold accessories.  I would wear it a little different than the model by pairing it with some sexy gold shoes.  What did you wear to your prom?  Leave a comment below.

Hope you enjoy!  Look out for my official outfit post on what I wore to the event.

Professional sparkle

IMG_2840

Hey loves how's it going?

Since my last post we've actually had a little cold front come through.  It's not too bad but i'm sooo over it.  I've been getting sick a lot so I figured what better way to lift my spirits than to wear some sparkles.  YES!!!  Mission accomplished...mood lifted.  I attended a meeting yesterday in which I wore a long pleated trouser with this blazer cream blazer.  I had a few things to do after I was finished and decided to change into this skirt since the sun was out.  Bad idea, I ended up staying out longer than I anticipated and it got a bit nippy.  Too nippy for my little skinny legs...lol.  Anyway, this outfit total must have cost me about $20 (excluding shoes and bag).  The jacket (they had a multitude of colors) was bought the day after christmas.  With the scratch offs they were handing out that day I only paid $10 for the jacket.  The skirt I purchased in an earlier in the year (2012) sale for around $5.  Don't you just love bargains?  Bought months and months apart, I didn't plan this outfit but coincidentally all the pieces are from H&M, even the shirt worn under the jacket which has been factored into the $20 total.  Moments like these make me realize how much I like shopping there (mostly due to the prices).  Matter of fact for all you shopaholics, they currently have a 30% off coupon available which expires on 02/06.  I'm sure if you google it or sign up for their emails you can get it.  =)

Sunny winter days

IMG_2771_2

"Live simply. Dream big. Be grateful. Give love. Laugh lots"

Heyyyy dolls, how's it going?

Ok I know i've been MIA for a while but with good reason.  LIFE!!! Sometimes it throws you loop holes and you have no choice but to keep going and be grateful.  I'm grateful!  Anyway, what better way to enjoy an 85 degree winter day than pulling on a mini skirt, a sleeveless tee and some chic sunglasses.  There's no better way!  We've been having such beautiful weather here in FL and i've been spending lots of time outdoors enjoying it with my lil man.  Wherever there's a body of water with beautiful scenery, that's where you'll usually find me just chilling.  It's like therapy for my soul, it calms my nerves.  Anyone else like that?  What calms you?

About the outfit:  I bought this skirt about 8 months ago while I was in the Caribbean and believe it or not this is my first time wearing it.  It baffles me as to why because i'm definitely in lust with it.  The petal hem and soft material is perfect for a spring or summer day.  Lucky me I get to wear it in winter.  Ok ok I know some of you are freezing so i'll quit rubbing it in.  I paired it with a no fuss tank top that I got on sale for $5 in the mens section at Macy's.  I adore it and I adore printed tank tops in general.  They're perfect for displaying your personality through clothing.  Finished off my look with a pair of comfortable heels and my go to sunglasses.  I threw on the trench to keep it classy not trashy because the skirt is a tad bit see through.  Uh-ha so it just hit me why I hadn't worn it before...LOL.  Hope you dolls enjoy my look.  Leave your links in the comments and i'll be sure to check out your sites.  I'm so ready to get back into my blogging after this world wind of a few months i've had.

Polka dot pants

IMG_2401

Hey dolls, how's it going?

This is my first look for the new year and definitely one of my faves.  All thanks to these amazing shoes.  I typically don't get very excited about H&M's designer collabs (except the Anna Dello Russo collab...I was devastated when I found out the H&M nearest me wouldn't carry the collection).  In my opinion it's just a bunch of overpriced items that doesn't appeal to the masses which was clearly the case with their latest collab with Maison Martin Margiela.  To this day, almost 2 months after its release, my local store still has a considerably large amount of stock available.  Now this means the black friday shoppers passed up on them....the after christmas shoppers...the coupon holders and all the end of year shoppers.  SMH!  Avant-garde in a store like H&M was never a good business decision.  The decision makers at H&M must be REALLY good at selling their brand to get this designer to agree to a collaboration.

Discounted to prices below $30 and shoppers still aren't buying these items.  I think they should just donate the pieces to homeless shelters, at least that way they'll be of great use.  I personally wasn't attracted to the clothing items with the exception of the mirrored leggings which sold out pretty quickly.  The shoes on the other hand, I LOVED.  They offered me the type of uniqueness I typically look for in a shoe.  It was like rocket science for me deciding between those worn here and the black bootie with the same heel.  As you see these won but just because the booties were a size too small for me..HAHA!  I was sooo willing to squeeze my little toes in there.  Now it's important to note that I do LOVE these shoes but there was NO WAY I was forking over the initial $199 price tag they came with.  I, of course, waited until they went on sale which I was positive they would.  The day after christmas most of the items were discounted down to $30 including these shoes.  YAY!!!!  However, I do feel sorry for the people who stood in line and paid full price for these items.  In an economy like this I don't care how much money you have.  Shopping smart is a MUST.  Sooner or later everything (ok maybe not everything) goes on sale.  Wishing everyone a productive week! =)
