My mint green pants and strappy sandals

IMG_7648_2

Hey fashion dolls, how's it going?

Spring is steadily approaching, aren't you guys excited??? I know I am! I'm even more excited that Mint appears to be the color of the season judging from all the mint items i've been seeing in stores. If I haven't mentioned it before i'm saying it now....MINT IS MY FAVORITE color. Yes that definitely deserved caps lock. I'm obsessed! So when I walked into Zara and saw these pants it was a no brainer. My camera (in the strong sunlight) struggled with capturing the true color (which is mint green not blue as it appears). These pants are super easy to dress up or down so I paired it with a casual black top for a more laid back look. For my shoes, I couldn't resist throwing on another of my newest obsessions.....my strappy Zara heels. Bad idea! Read on to find out why. =)

I was so love struck when I spotted these on the Zara website. They were in my cart a second later. They sold out really quickly but Zara recently restocked. As much as I love them I have to be honest, I made the mistake of doing lots of walking in them right out the box and they murdered my feet. Killed it! My feet were so swollen! THE worst i've ever experienced. So bad that i've been wearing flats ever since to give my feet a break....and I hardly EVER wear flats. I fixed the problem, however, by adding insoles to the ball of my feet. It's a lot better and I definitely should have thought of it sooner. It would have saved me the embarasment I experienced when my hun's mom asked me if i'm sure I can walk in those heels. My confident reaction, "oh yeah i'm use to this." HA! I was almost to tears a few hours later. I couldn't even make it back to the car and I refused to take them off....LOL. They've been noticing me in flats ever since. LOL. Despite all that, i'll still wear them again and again. They just need breaking in. I hope!

All Star Weekend Fashion Show

IMG_7603_2

Hey fashion dolls how's it going?

I wasn't going to make this post because I didn't want to come off as being negative but I thought about it and the truth is better than nothing at all. If you follow basketball you would know the all star weekend events wrapped up in Orlando last weekend. I was able to attend a fashion show and wanted to make a quick post on what I thought since I did receive a PR invite which I was extremely grateful for.

Overall, the location was very pretty but just needed a bit more lighting. I love going to fashion shows and viewing the designs of up and coming designers. I didn't expect a show that would rival those of MBFW (my ultimate dream). However, I was a bit disappointed with the execution of this event. There was a huge disconnect between the press release and the actual event. To begin, my hun and I got there on time and was hugely frustrated with the late start. The show took place in downtown which meant parking by the hour. Despite that, the event did start about 2 hours after the advertised start time which I felt was extremely unprofessional. There were so many things that were just so wrong right from the beginning. The lighting was wayyy too dark for a fashion show. When the show finally got started the host was great and very gracious but that was overpowered by the lack of good planning and time management. There were so many technical issues both back stage (i'm assuming because of the huge gaps between designers) and on stage (Mic problems). But enough about that because it's all about the fashion right?

Of the 7 or so designers featured I did enjoy 2 and a few pieces from others. One was a swimwear line out of Miami called GSaints. I wasn't able to get great pictures because it was a bit confusing trying to figure out where to sit since it wasn't a traditional runway. We ended up with good seats but not in a great pic taking location. I did catch a few and I apologize in advance for the quality. The other was by a designer named Kiswanna. I've included pics of what I wore and just a few of my fave pieces which I was able to snap.

Jeffrey Campbell Lita Spikes...I'm infatuated!

IMG_7325_2

Hey fashion dolls, how's it going?

Last night I had the opportunity to attend an all star weekend fashion show which i'll share my thoughts on in my next post.

For now I want to share with you my new babies...my Jeffrey Campbell Lita spikes. I've been searching for these in my size since forever but always had bad timing. My inner bad gyal just had to have them and there was no stopping her...LOL. They apparently sell out really fast but this time I was lucky. Well at least I think I was. =) If you've never owned a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's and you're planning to let me warn you, if you're not use to extreme platforms these shoes are VERY intimidating. Opening the box for the first time I had so many mixed emotions. It felt like my inner bad gyal was warring with my outer shy girl. It went something like this: Bad gyal; "OMGGGG these are SICK, such bad ass...Hell Yeah!", Shy girl; "Oh lord have mercy what did I get myself in to? I'll kill someone or myself in these shoes." As you can see, the bad gyal won. I didn't send them back and i'm actually a lot obsessed with them. They are super super comfortable for such high shoes.

My overall verdict on JC shoes; they design shoes that target the emotions in women that every designer should be trying to target. It's the same emotion that forces us to make impulse buys and keeps us online or in stores looking for that IT product. The level of intrigue with his shoes is off the shoe loving scale...if that makes sense. These are the only shoes that I'VE ever seen on a website with almost 1000 reviews. I think i've caught the JC bug! Aahhhh Shoeee!!!! BAHAHA! I know...corny...but you get my point. I'll also add that they do photograph beautifully. Hope you enjoy the pics and please feel free to let me know what you think!

Striped

IMG_7245_2

Hey fashion dolls, how's it going?

Hope everyone got off to a great start this week. Mine was going great until I witnessed a car accident that left me traumatized. So sad! There were 5 people laid out on the side of the road and they all left in ambulances. Hopefully everyone is ok. Tomorrow will be a better day...I can feel it. =)

About the outfit: I've had this navy striped jacket for almost a year now and this is only my second time wearing it. It's a little too tight for my shoulders. Plus vertical stripes can be tricky to wear. Because of my body type, I would never pair this jacket with anything too busy. All my other pieces need to remain in the solid color category which is what I did with this look. My neon cardigans (this yellow one and the pink seen here) were a great purchase because they are the perfect pop of color to more than half the stuff in my closet. Originally I did have this paired with my long navy wide legged trousers but that turned out WAY to formal for where I was going. To dress it down I changed in to my old faithful BDG shorts which you will continue to see a lot of. As always, I Hope you enjoy the pics!

Hi dolls, how's it going?

As you can tell from these pics i'm soooo ready for spring. Although we've mostly been experiencing spring like weather this winter i'm still ready for it to be permanent. =) Mostly because of the huge neon trend that's about to consume the fashion world and enlighten my life...haha. Anyone who actually reads my posts knows I'm OBSESSED with color. The brighter the better. What about you guys? Are you excited for Spring?

With that said, this outfit is kind of a warm up for next season. This tummy bearing top had the breeze blowing in all the right places. I purchased it last spring but this is my first time wearing it. I usually don't like to expose my tummy but if I do I like to keep it conservative on the bottom. Depends on where i'm going. Hence the reason i'm wearing long pants and not my usual shorts. Hope you enjoy!

The top and pants are actually burnt orange but for some reason I was getting compliments from people saying they loved my red outfit....LOL.
